Last month I took part in the Foto Marathon in Copenhagen, it was the second time I participated. But this year was a bit special since they organised a special analog competition. The way it works is you have to take 24 pictures within 24 hours about 24 given topics, and they have to be taken in the correct order. On top of that when you do it with film, you can’t make any mistake, the first shot has to be the right one. It was quite challenging but also fun.
At the beginning of the day we were handed a roll of film and a card with the 4 first topics and off we went.
There are a couple of times when after taking the photo I regretted and thought I could have done something better, but as I said, with analog, there is no second take.
I stopped after 16 hours, exhausted, the pictures I was coming up with were more and more far fetched. And the fun was wearing off. Unfortunately that’s pretty much the equivalent of dropping out.
If by any chance they decide to organise an analog competition again I will for sure participate, if it’s only digital though, I’m not sure I’d enjoy it as much.
